Dr. Margaretha Wewerinke-Singh is a Lecturer in Environmental Law at the University of the South Pacific (USP) School of Law. She is also an Affiliate of the Centre for Climate Change Mitigation Research at the University of Cambridge. Margaretha’s work broadly speaking focuses on the role of human rights in sustainable development law and governance. She has particular expertise in legal remedies for climate change and associated injustices. A monograph based on her PhD, State Responsibility, Climate Change and Human Rights under International Law, is under contract for publication with Hart Publishing. Margaretha has extensive experience working with policy-makers and non-governmental organisations at the local, regional and international level, including the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Pacific Islands Development Forum, the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights, Greenpeace and Oxfam, and various Pacific Island and African governments. Margaretha serves on the editorial boards of the Asia Pacific Journal of Environmental Law and the Journal of South Pacific Law.
